Bear Hunt is an alliance rally event, and the two rules that cost people the most are about who you belong to and when you last ran it — not about damage.
Leaving your alliance wipes your points
The publisher is unusually direct here: your ranking points are cleared the moment you leave your alliance, and rejoining the same alliance later in the season does not bring them back. There is no grace period and no restore. If you are thinking about a transfer, do it in a season where you have nothing banked, because the points do not travel and they do not come home.

The 46-hour interval
Hopping to a second alliance to run the event twice does not work either. Century Games requires a minimum interval of 46 hours between two Bear Hunt sessions, counted from the tally of the previous session — not from when you joined the new alliance. The clock follows the lord, so a fresh alliance does not reset it.

The trap: build it once, and think before you remove it
An Alliance Trap cannot be moved. It can only be removed, and rebuilding it starts from level 1 with fresh Hunting Arrows — every arrow already spent is gone. Placement is therefore a permanent decision dressed up as a temporary one; treat the first placement as final.
Once the trap is maxed you can keep contributing, but the level will not rise. Contributions past the cap buy you nothing in trap level, so members with arrows to spare should be told to stop rather than left guessing.

Who starts it, and why the enemy rally hits harder than its stats suggest
Only alliance members above R4 can start Bear Hunt, so if nobody in your alliance can see the button, that is the reason. And when a weaker-looking rally out-damages yours, the publisher’s explanation is that rally damage depends mainly on the captain’s heroes and the chance of their skills triggering — not on the combined stats of everyone who joined. The practical read: it is worth arguing about who captains a rally, and not worth arguing about who joins it.
