Nearly every Alliance Showdown question is really the same question: "I completed the missions, so why did our alliance score not move?" The answer is that this event locks eligibility to a single instant, and Century Games states that instant explicitly.
1. One timestamp decides everything
The publisher’s requirement is a single sentence: only members who remain in the alliance at the start of the matchmaking phase (UTC 23:00, Sunday) are eligible to participate. The ranking answer repeats it — only members in the alliance during the matchmaking phase will be ranked — and the joining answer closes the loop: those who join after matchmaking ends cannot earn points for that alliance.
Convert that once for the clock on your wall and write it down; it is the only time you need to remember all week. At UTC−5 it is 18:00 Sunday, at UTC+1 it is 00:00 Monday, and at UTC+9 it is 08:00 Monday. (Those conversions are ours, straight arithmetic from the published UTC time — check your own offset, especially around daylight-saving changes.)
2. What an alliance change actually costs you
"Switching alliances wipes your points" is the common belief and it is half wrong. Here is what the publisher actually says, split by situation.
| Situation | What happens (publisher’s wording) |
|---|---|
| In the alliance at matchmaking | Eligible to participate, and you will be ranked. |
| Joined after matchmaking ended | You cannot earn points for that alliance this cycle. |
| Switched alliances mid-event | You keep your points. But to earn Alliance Points again you need to return to your previous alliance. |
| Returned to your initial alliance | You can continue earning points for it. |
| Points banked in the other alliance | They will not count toward your original score, and you will not be ranked for them — even after you come back. |
| Left the alliance (Daily Chest) | You keep your Daily Chest Personal Points, and can resume earning them in a new alliance that is in the event. |
The clean way to hold this in your head: personal progress follows you; alliance credit is pinned to where you stood at UTC 23:00 Sunday. So the two official causes of "my missions did nothing" are exactly the two the help centre lists — you joined after the event started, or you changed alliance after it started. The second one is reversible: go back and the points start counting again.
3. Who gets paid, and when
| Item | Rule |
|---|---|
| Alliance Daily Rewards, Alliance Star Rating Rewards, Alliance Ranking Rewards | Only members who are in the alliance during the tally phase. |
| Alliance Ranking Rewards (extra condition) | Recipients must also remain in their initial alliance. |
| Delivery time | All rewards are dispatched at UTC 12:00, Sunday. |
| Auto-advance | Alliances granted auto-advance receive Auto-Advance Rewards only. |
Notice that Ranking Rewards carry two conditions at once: present at the tally, and still in the alliance you started in. That closes the obvious exploit — you cannot hop into a top-ranked alliance late in the week and collect its ranking payout.
4. The safe window for moving alliance
If you are going to transfer, the least destructive window is after the tally (UTC 12:00 Sunday) and before matchmaking (UTC 23:00 Sunday) — roughly an eleven-hour gap. Move inside it and you collect the old cycle’s rewards and start the new cycle cleanly in your new alliance. Move outside it and you give up one of the two. (That window is our reading of the two published times, not a rule the publisher states as such.)
