Canyon Clash — monthly, and the battle is on Thursday

Canyon Clash runs on a monthly basis: voting Saturday and Sunday, registration Monday and Tuesday, matchmaking Wednesday, battle Thursday. Your alliance must be top 20 on the Alliance Power Leaderboard, and each legion needs 15 combatants and substitutes in total.

Canyon Clash is the event most often described wrongly — usually as a weekly Saturday fight. Century Games' English help centre is unambiguous, so we will just quote the schedule and then explain what it costs you to get it wrong.

The schedule

Canyon Clash is a special battlefield gameplay in which alliances take part on a monthly basis, and the week runs like this: Saturday and Sunday — voting. Monday and Tuesday — registration. Wednesday — matchmaking. Thursday — battle.

Monthly, not weekly. If you have been treating Canyon Clash as a weekend event you have been missing the registration window entirely, because registration closes on Tuesday — two days before anything visibly happens. Miss Tuesday and your legion is not in the fight, regardless of how strong you are.

Two legions, tallied separately

Each alliance can send up to 2 legions. The two may sign up for different time slots, and their rewards are tallied separately. That is a bigger deal than it sounds: it lets an alliance field an A-team in the competitive slot and a development team in another, without the weaker legion dragging the stronger one's reward tier down. If your alliance is running one legion out of habit, you are leaving a whole reward track unused.

Why you might be locked out

Century Games lists four reasons you cannot participate, and they are worth checking in order:

  • Your alliance's ranking is too low — you must be top 20 on the Alliance Power Leaderboard.
  • Your legion is granted auto-advance — nothing is wrong; there is simply no match to play.
  • Your legion does not have enough registrants — the total of combatants and substitutes must be 15.
  • You were not selected — each legion caps participants, and being registered is not the same as being fielded.

The third one is where small alliances lose the event before it starts. Fifteen bodies including substitutes is a recruiting target, not a rounding error.

Which buffs actually work

This is the part that decides fights, and the publisher spells it out. Effective: Position, Pet, Territory, combat-related City Buffs, and Facility buffs. Ineffective: everything related to deployment capacity, marching speed, and rally.

So the chief who spent the month stacking march speed and rally capacity brings none of it. What travels is combat stats — Position perks, Pet skills, Territory and Facility buffs. Two practical consequences: turn your Pet skills on before the battle window, because they are manual and they do count here; and if your alliance holds Facilities, those buffs come with you, which is a direct argument for contesting Facilities in the week before a Clash.

What we would not claim

Troops in Canyon Clash are widely described as copies, with no effect on your real army, and a 60-minute battle length is quoted everywhere. Century Games' English articles on Canyon Clash do not state either, so we are not presenting them as publisher facts on this page. Treat the "no real losses" comfort as community consensus and check your own troop counts after your first Clash.
