Alliance Duel rules — who gets matched, how the League works, and why Sunday is empty

You need Base Level above 10, and your alliance needs at least 20 members and a place in the top 32 of the Warzone Power Rankings to enter matchmaking at all. A League season is 4 weeks with 16 alliances per group, ranked on win count first, earliest win as the tiebreak — weekly score does not enter into it. Sunday has no icon because Sunday is settlement, and you cannot disband on it.

Alliance Duel runs Monday to Saturday and settles on Sunday. Everything below is from First Fun's English help centre — no community guesswork, and no numbers we could not source.

Why your alliance is not in it

Three separate gates, and people usually only know about the first:

  • Your Base Level must be above 10 to take part personally.
  • Your alliance needs at least 20 members.
  • Only the top 32 alliances in the Warzone Power Rankings go into matchmaking.

That third one is the quiet one. A perfectly healthy 25-member alliance sitting at rank 40 in its warzone simply does not appear in the event, and nothing in the interface tells you that is why.

How you get your opponent

Warm-up matches are paired on combined member strength alone. League matches use more: strength, past placements, and promotion and relegation history. That is the answer to the usual complaint that an alliance keeps drawing opponents above its weight — a good record follows you.

Being matched against an alliance from your own warzone is not a bug either. When two same-server alliances have similar strength and similar rankings, the system will pair them like any other candidates.

The League, in one table

Season length4 weeks
Group size16 alliances, selected at random
Ranked bynumber of wins
Tiebreakwhoever won earliest
Promotiongroup winner, if not already in Diamond League
Final standingsonly after every Week 4 match has finished

Two consequences worth internalising. First, your weekly score does not affect League ranking — only whether you won. A crushing win and a one-point win are the same row in the table. Second, because the tiebreak is the earliest win, two alliances on the same record are separated by something that already happened weeks ago.

Saturday is not your match

Saturday's stage lets alliances invade enemy warzones, which is why you can be attacked by an alliance that is not your scheduled opponent. First Fun's help centre calls this stage [Alliance Assaults] in one article and refers to a Saturday Enemy Buster event in another; we quote both rather than pick one, because we have not confirmed which name the current client shows. The practical advice is the publisher's: run a Shield, or sort it out diplomatically before the day starts.

Sunday: no icon, no disbanding

The Alliance Duel icon disappears on Sundays because Sunday is the settlement day — results are being finalised, so there is nothing to open. For the same reason an alliance cannot be disbanded on a Sunday. Disbanding becomes possible again once results are final and before the next matchmaking runs.

If you are trying to work out why your personal score does not match your alliance-mate's, that is a different question with a long answer: see Alliance Duel points.
